Recalling Childhood I have always been building. My earliest memories are building tinker toy structures and meccano machines. In the winters I’d spend all day building these on the floor with my legs crossed hearing mom calling me for meals and my legs being so stiff was hard to get up. This was early passion for building and focussing on a task in hand. Truly love building. If I’m not making something I feel lost.
There are so many fulfillments building something it’s something I can’t get enough of. Growing up id make most of my toys, trucks, airplanes, radio control model planes, gas engine go-cart, list goes on. I’d watch my grandpa do wood projects in his basement shop. Grew up in my dad’s shop and now I have my own. Building is so natural to me I couldn’t imagine doing anything different.
My dad talks about my great grandpa being a good carpenter, how he could figure out anything and cut rafters like crazy. My Grandpa always had a wood working project on the go, his specialty later in life was making wool spinning wheels. The one picture on the barn roof shows my great-grandpa, grandpa, dad and uncle Fred finishing the addition to the barn.
Interesting I’ve always had a passion for building boats, maybe it’s from floating popsicle sticks down the street gutter when I was a kid. My grandpa built a fishing boat which I’m fortunate enough to have a picture of him beside holding the days catch. Just found out last summer when visiting my uncle in Winnipeg he made and sold a couple wooden boats back in the Fifties. This year during spare time after work I’ve mastered building a cedar strip touring sea kayak that’ll be ready to launch this summer.
The reason I am involved with Renovations and construction is the fulfillment and need to be creative, not to be a cog in the system. The desire to listen attentively to people’s desires, visions and dreams and through process, design sketches, make these into a usable and enjoyable space and environment to assist in everyday use and pleasure. Whether it is cooking, bathing, entertainment area, work space.

From small bathroom upgrades, complete large reconfigurations to main or second floors, meeting specialised needs in cabinets and accessibility requirements, any household handyman service work which often comes up during a major project.
